Ideas of Buying a Mother of the Bride Dress for You

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

Your daughter’s wedding and you want look really good on her big day. So you cannot be casual with regard to your look, and you need to find a very special gown for yourself. One of the steps to finding the mother’s gown is deciding on the style. You need to read the following tips if you aren’t sure how to determine your style while selecting a dress.

You have to ensure that the gown you choose suits your age size. Even if you are young, a teen prom dress would be inappropriate. By that same token, an old fashioned outfit that is done with long sleeves and a high neckline would also be an inappropriate style for you. Probably, if you are an old woman, a strapless dress with short hems or ruffles, ribbons and bows certainly would not be the right idea for you, especially because of the extra weight that comes with age. The mother of the bride dress that you pick out should fit your specific body type. If you get a curvaceous body, you certainly would appear nicer in an elegant, large-fitting outfit. If you are not young and petite, before choosing a sleeveless dress, you should definitely ensure you have the arms for it. (more…)

Ideas of Finding Your Mother of The Bride Dress

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Your daughter’s wedding is announced. You, as her mother, will help her plan her dream wedding, just like your mother planned yours. At the back of your mind……”What am I going to wear? Will I look just as beautiful as my daughter on her wedding day? So many people are going to be looking at me as well….”

Fret no more. Here are the RULES but like all rules, they may be broken or should I say improvised and revised to suit you. I say….whatever makes you and your daughter happy!

1. Confer with your daughter. She will come up with a color scheme for her wedding.

2. Ask her whether she wants the color of your dress to complement her wedding colors or almost match it. Examples of complementary colors to a red color theme is burgundy, wine, claret red, dark pink, and purple. As for a “match”, it would certainly be difficult to have an exact match of the colors, as your dress will be of a different manufacturer, style, fabric, and dye. So, do not stress over this. Some Tips For the Mother of the Bride

Monday, October 31st, 2011

Know that today’s planning team isn’t automatically the bride and her mom. You may be part of a team that includes the groom’s parents, or the bride and groom will be doing the majority of the planning on their own. So don’t go into this with huge expectations, or have your feelings hurt that you won’t be in charge of the cake. Just look forward to meeting with the bride and groom to discuss how THEY’D like their team to work together.

Make a promise to yourself, as a parent, that you’ll keep the wishes of the bride and groom paramount. Since the wedding is such an important and emotional event, it’s easy to fall into a heightened state and want more of your ideas included. Know the difference between making suggestions and forcing your opinion.

Be ready with addresses and information when the bride and groom come to you about guest list or ideas to incorporate family traditions into their wedding. When you’re asked to do anything, get back to them right away and be diligent. (more…)

Tips for You to Decorate the Mother of the Bride’s House

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

Weddings often involve more parties and ceremonies than just the wedding itself. Many weddings have numerous dinners and gatherings leading up to the big day where friends and relatives get together with the happy couple to reminisce, give presents and talk about the couple’s future plans. When these occasions take place inside someone’s home, decorating is essential to help the event feel special. Decorating the home of the bride’s mother for wedding activities is often a joyful activity that multiple family members can take part in together.

1.Clean the house thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. Temporarily remove any items on the floors or tables that don’t need to be there and dust every surface with a rag to eliminate dust that has accumulated. Wash the floors with warm water and mild detergent to have them looking their best when guests or members of the wedding party arrive. The cleaner the house, the better the environment leading up to the wedding.

2.Hang pictures of the bride around the home. The photos should show the bride at various stages of her life, starting with childhood and leading up to her time spent thus far with the groom. (more…)
